Vin Diesel's Fast X, The X Means 10 In Roman Numerals

Updated: May 8, 2023

I went through some articles online mentioning the name chosen for the last Fast and Furious instalment, again. This is an excellent clarification of the name of the chapter and why Vin Diesel says that it is number 10.

Back on August 24, 2021, when Vin Diesel presented the new Fast and Furious name to his fans in an Instagram post took the time to explained why number 10:

"That excitement is real...

The emotions are strong. Haha. Hope somehow perseveres in this multi-generational saga. 10... the final chapter.

A divine number, 10 means a return to unity, the fusion between being and non-being.

The number 10 denotes the completion of a cycle.

I am so proud of Universal, the incredible team of talent we are blessed to have on this journey.

Grateful for it all and most importantly for all of you."

In the above post Vin Diesel is called the last chapter of the Saga 10 (ten) three times. No way to get confused with that explanation and then since August 2021, we all know that the film is being called FAST 10. Also, if we take a detailed look at the picture in the post, we can appreciate the letters FX shaved in Vincent's hair alluding to the saga last chapter's name.

Actually, the X in Fast X's goes a little further. X equals 10 and is also a tribute to 'Racer X', the inspiration for the first film of Fast and Furious back in 2001 that was taken from an article featured in the May 1998 issue of Vibe Magazine. "Racer X", written by Ken Li, covered street racing in New York City from the point of view of Rafael Estevez, who was interviewed for the piece.

On September 12, 2021, after the Dolce and Gabbana Fashion Show held in Venice, Italy (and that Vin attended with his closest friends), Vin Diesel extended his vacation time and showed up in Monza, Italy, ahead of the 2021 Italian GP to show his support for Lewis Hamilton, pose for pictures and have a closer look at Hamilton’s Mercedes-AMG F1 car. There is a bond between Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton and actor, singer, and producer Vin Diesel, the two are also gym buddies.

Seen Vin Diesel in a Grand Prix circuit is something that brings the memory back to F9 Toretto's family roots. Below another edit from Vin Diesel's Fast X during the Brazilian race.

Back in September 12, 2021 in a second Instagram post from Italy, in Vin Diesel's narrative we can see the hashtag #FX and the hashtag #Italy between others. Indicating another two clues to the Saga's last chapter name: #FX - X means 10 (Ten), using Italian Roman numerals, write X.

"The Race!!

Big things coming..."

Vin Diesel second hashtag #Italy, we found Vin' second clue, indicating for the first time that the Fast X Worldwide Premiere will be held in Italy. Now in 2023 Vin Diesel also confirmed the exact location, city of Rome.

Since we are Fast and Furious' hard fans, all know that there are more than 10 feature films already plus two shorts, then why is this last chapter being called number 10? The first film in 2001 was named "The Fast and The Furious" alluding as "Fast" Brian O'Connor and as "Furious" Dominic Toretto.

Vin Diesel's Fast X will complete the circle

TheThe beginning of 2001 film on a deserted highway, a heist crew (leading by Dominic Toretto), driving three modified Honda Civics assault a truck carrying electronic goods, steal its cargo, and escape into the night. A joint Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and FBI task force sends LAPD officer Brian O'Conner undercover to locate the crew. He begins his investigation at Toretto's Market and flirts with its owner Mia, sister of the infamous street racer Dominic Toretto, while Dominic sits in the back office reading a newspaper. Dominic's crew—Vince, Leon, Jesse, and Dom's girlfriend Letty—arrives, Vince, who has a crush on Mia, starts a fight with Brian until Dominic intervenes. Wikipedia

I also adding below this article BY JEFF KELLY/FEB. 12, 2023 because he is also mentioning the beginning of the saga as "Racer X."

Remember when the "Fast & Furious" franchise was just a street racing "Point Break" rip-off? (Right down to the fact that Johnny Utah's beer of choice in the film was even Corona!) You'd be forgiven if you had forgotten since the folks at Universal seem to have put those humble origins in their rearview mirror as well. These days, the "Fast" crew that started out boosting DVD players and trying to live their lives a quarter mile at a time have essentially, become a combination of "G.I. Joe" and "The Avengers," as the most elite team of secret agents, hackers, and just all around badasses on the planet. Got a problem? You've got to call in Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel). Given the fact that Dom and the gang have swung across chasms in cars, raced submarines in cars, parachuted out of planes in cars, and even launched themselves out of Abu Dhabi's Etihad Towers in — you guessed it — cars, it's pretty wild to think that the franchise was ever grounded in reality. And we do mean reality because the original film that spawned a multi-billion-dollar box office behemoth was actually inspired by real-world events. Amazingly, the "Fast" franchise can all be traced back to a 1998 article in Vibe called "Racer X," written by journalist Ken Li. And yes, believe it or not, that means that Dominic Toretto himself was (very, very loosely) inspired by a living, breathing human being named Rafael Estevez, who drove in illegal street races all over New York City. We don't know if Estevez was ever contractually obligated to win every fight too, but we sure like to think so.

Since then, the Fast and Furious franchise made a total of 11 feature films, if we include "Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw", and that's also a clue, Fast Brian and Furious Dom wasn't part on that cast, but both of them, or at least one of them were present as part of the cast in the other 10 installments until today. as Vin Diesel said back in 2021:

"The number 10 denotes the completion of a cycle"

With Fast X, Dom Toretto's Family approaches the finish line having in consideration that Dom Toretto is the main character of this franchise, also means the probability of many others spin-off continuing the saga from another angle.

After watching the trailers, we can say that Vin Diesel's Fast X will take the action to another level, comparing the insanity of Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), with previous antagonists in the film.
