Vin Diesel's Riddick Filling Up The Top 10 Chart With 3 Movies

Updated: May 7, 2023

In his last post to social media Vin Diesel talks about his four instalment of Riddick and he said that Riddick is killing it over on Netflix. The Fast and Furious franchise’s lead actor is filling up the Top 10 charts with three big movies from his also-famous science fiction Riddick trilogy. Pitch Black, The Chronicles of Riddick, and Riddick are all available on the streaming platform at the moment, and all three of them are in the Top 10. At the time of this writing, FlixPatrol reports that Pitch Black is number nine on the charts, The Chronicles of Riddick is number seven, and Riddick is number four.

If you are preparing a watch party, the first film in Vin Diesel’s epic space adventure series you should watch on Netflix is Pitch Black, in which Vin Diesel stars as a murderer named Riddick who is brought to a planet that appears to be deserted. Appearances can be deceiving, though, and once night falls, the planet comes alive with alien life. The aliens’ only weakness is light, so the pilot and her passengers must rely on Riddick who, much like Liam Neeson in Taken, has a very particular set of skills.

Vin Diesel Is Taking Over Netflix With Three Pulse-Pounding Movies In The Top Ten

Had some really great Riddick meetings this week… only to find that all three films are in the top ten Netflix movies. Wow. So grateful to our Furyan community. Haha.

Happy creative Sunday…

The Riddick film franchise was a major stepping stone in Vin Diesel's career, but without consistency in the titling of the three installments, their viewing order is not immediately clear. Starting in the year 2000 with the sci-fi/horror film Pitch Black, the series quickly found its star in the form of its antihero, Richard Riddick (Diesel), and the franchise continued with additional movies, video games, novels, and other forms of media. Though the Riddick franchise received a mixed critical reaction from movie to movie, the series gained a loyal fanbase and its different parts became cult classics in their own right.

Even if the movies weren't critical darlings, each installment in the series was a financial success at the box office, and speculation on a fourth film in the franchise has abounded since the release of the second sequel in 2013. Every Riddick movie has its own strengths, and the series has the uncanny ability to build a compelling world within the universe of the story. The extraneous media and short films helped to further flesh out that world-building, but the features are essential viewing. The Riddick movies can be enjoyed as standalone adventures, but they are best experienced in the order in which they were released.

Vin Diesel is set to return for a fourth film in the “Riddick” franchise, titled “Riddick: Furya.”

The new film is written and directed by David Twohy, who first teamed up with Diesel on 2000’s “Pitch Black,” and continued the hit sci-fi franchise with two sequels, 2004’s “The Chronicles of Riddick” and 2013’s “Riddick.” Diesel will star in and produce the new film under his One Race Films banner, alongside Samantha Vincent, who will also produce. Rocket Science and CAA Media Finance will launch worldwide sales at next week’s EFM in Berlin.

According to the film’s official description, “Furya” finds Riddick finally returning to his homeworld, a place he barely remembers and one he fears might be left in ruins by the Necromongers. But there he finds other Furyans fighting for their existence against a new enemy. And some of these Furyans are more like Riddick than he could have ever imagined.

“Our legion of fans have demanded it for years, and now we’re finally ready to honor their call-to-action with ‘Riddick: Furya,'” Twohy said in a statement announcing the project. “My collaboration with Vin and One Race has spanned 20 fruitful years, as together we’ve created three movies, two video games, an anime production, and motion comics for the internet. This new big-screen event will see a return to Riddick’s homeworld, where we finally get to explore Riddick’s genesis.”

The idea of exploring “Riddick’s genesis” is incredibly enticing and the further expansion of this universe is something that could honestly lead to even more movies, animated productions, and video games.

Riddick 4: Furya: Everything We Know About The Vin Diesel Movie

Before he was racing cars as Dominic Toretto in the Fast & Furious world, working for the National Security Agency as Xander Cage in xXx and voicing Groot in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Vin Diesel debuted the antihero known as Richard B. Riddick in 2000’s Pitch Black. While that was a low-budget sci-fi offering, Riddick’s adventures delved into blockbuster territory in 2004 with The Chronicles of Riddick, and that was followed by 2013’s Riddick. Now after nearly a decade of development, it’s been announced that Diesel is officially returning for Riddick 4, a movie he once teased while shirtless.

In addition to reprising Riddick, Vin Diesel will produce Riddick: Furya through his One race Films production company with Samantha Vincent. Next week, Rocket Science and CAA Media Finance will launch worldwide sales for the next Riddick movie at the European Film Festival.

Riddick 4 Will End The Vin Diesel Franchise - Theory Explained BY PADRAIG COTTER PUBLISHED FEB 11, 2023

To be honest with you I disagreed with his theory, having in consideration that Riddick is a sci-fi character appreciated and admired by his fans since the first chapter. Also in today's cinematic world they are many crossover of characters from one franchise to another and Riddick could mutch in more than one of those top sci-fi franchises available. And not only crossover to another franchise, looks like in the same SCREENRANT another columnist found a connection between Riddick/Predator that also could minds that we are at the portal of a new Sci-Fi era where both franchises will become one. Just saying! in case the public still want more of Riddick after "Furya" the 4 chapter, imagen a word with those two characters fighting each other.

Before he broke out the white tank in The Fast and The Furious, Vin Diesel boldly sported a black tank in the 2000 sci-fi adventure Pitch Black. Diesel’s twisted space Jesus, Richard B. Riddick, went on to be the focus of a pair of follow-up films in 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick and 2013’s less wordy Riddick. Now, a decade later(and as the Fast franchise comes to an end), Diesel is heading back to the Pitch Black universe.

According to Deadline, Diesel and David Twohy, who wrote and directed the three previous installments in the franchise, are working together on developing Riddick IV: "Furya". Twohy, whose screenwriting credits also include Kevin Costner’s Waterworld, Harrison Ford‘s The Fugitive and Demi Moore‘s G.I. Jane, broke the news in an official release.

Diesel’s return to the role of Riddick, one he famously snagged at the last minute, as he wraps the Fast franchise could open the door to more projects in the Pitch Black universe. Though none of the films have landed well with critics and the most recent one didn’t really resonate with audiences, Vin is Vin and two of the three films earned more than double their production budgets. Perhaps Vin will take Dom’s advice, see how the next film is received and plan the future of the Pitch Black franchise a quarter mile at a time.
