The closer that we get to the Fast X's premier in Rome on May 19, 2023, the new members of the cast are giving to the press more detailed information about their rolles in the film. Brie Larson Confirms She’s Replacing Dwayne Johnson.
Actress Brie Larson has become synonymous with her role as Carol Danvers / Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In all, she has played the role in Captain Marvel (2019), Avengers: Endgame (2019), Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), Ms. Marvel episode No Normal, and of course, she will reprise the role in the upcoming film The Marvels (2023). She also portrayed Norex impersonating Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel. Though Larson has become one of the most recognizable figures in Hollywood because of the role, she has remained unsure about her future with Marvel Studios moving forward. Her new movie was originally set to be released in the summer but was moved to November, reportedly because of poor screenings. In addition, rumors have come forward that Larson and Disney have had disputes “behind the scenes” that have led many insiders to believe that the two parties are likely done after this film.
As Larson looks to move forward with her acting career, she has confirmed that she’ll be replacing Dwayne Johnson in a popular franchise. In the midst of Larson’s alleged disputes with Marvel, Dwayne Johnson has had major disputes with another actor: Vin Diesel. The disputes between Johnson and Diesel were so bad that the two refused to work together, and this essentially broke up their “family” in the Fast & Furious franchise.
Now, as the plans for Fast & Furious X move forward, Larson confirmed that she’ll be joining the cast and will playing Tess, Mr. Nobody’s daughter, played by Kurt Russell in the past. Tess is Mr. Nobody’s daughter,” she revealed in an interview. “She is technically Agency, but she’s kind of a bridge, in a way. She doesn’t go along with the way that the Agency’s headed now that her father isn’t there. She believes in the legacy that her father set up, which is standing with Dom and standing with the Toretto's family and is fighting for that. Dom knows that she has a strong mind and definitely respects that she’s gone out of her way to talk to him and wants to build trust. What he asks of Tess is a test. Like, if it’s an impossible task, and she can get it done, then that’s family for life.” With Johnson essentially moving on from the franchise, Larson is another star who can bring in some major casting for the franchise as Fast X moves forward.

Sitting down for an interview with Total Film, Brie Larson shared her views on joining the tenth film, Fast X, in the Fast and Furious franchise. The actress shared that she always wanted to be a part of the story, and begged to be included. As per her, these are the films that make one go to the theater. She said:
“This has been my dream. I’ve been basically begging to be in these movies for years now. Even though I’ve been acting since I was a kid, getting to be part of something you’ve watched your whole life and that you love is an amazing feeling. They’re films that make you want to go to the theater. They’re films you want to go to with your family. That matters!”
The Fast and Furious saga of films has grossed more than $6 billion at the box office. What started as movies about street racing have evolved into something else entirely and now the franchise has its own lore that it expands in every film. Also, the franchise’s theme about family has made the films a meme in internet circles, yet it continues to reach high box office goals every time. After reading those articles about Brie Larson begging to be part of Fast X, it calls my attention the quotation that Vin Diesel gave to her character Tess, during the trailer release party in LA Live, last February 9, 2023. When Vin Diesel said that Brie Larson is the light at the end of the tunnel, I think that he refers to Brie Larson as being "the light at the end of the tunnel" for the complete saga itself, if we have in consideration that after the end of Fast X part two (scheduled to be release on May 2024), Brie Larson is supposed to continue the Fast and Furious saga with more spin-offs that will prolonged the actual end of the franchise. At this point it is not clear how many more spin-offs Brie is planning to bring to life or if between those spin-offs Vin Diesel produces another idea to resucite the saga by himself after her spin-offs, anyways it sounds to me that we'll have saga for many more years to come.

In another note, I just heard a rumor that it is a big possibility that Dwayne Johnson is coming back to the Fast franchise to resolve Dante's revenge against Dom Toretto's family during Fast X "Part two". Of coure could be just a rumor but I want to share with you because it looks like it is almos happening.
After watching the first fast X's trailer we all agreed that Jason Momoa known for playing the king of the oceans, is so unique in his role of Dante Reyes, he gave more details about what we can expect from his character in Fast X.
“I am living the best moment of my life. I finally get to play the bad guy. I've been the good guy for too long. He (Dante Reyes the villain he plays in Fast X) is very sadistic and androgynous, he's a bit like a peacock…he has a lot of problems with this guy. He definitely has some daddy's issues pending to resolve."
